I attend this course a few months ago, and I really enjoy it and learnt a lot, from how to build my own investment portfolio to the trading games and hands-on chart analysis. Thanks Spencer!
You’re welcome! Enjoy your journey to financial freedom!
I am really keen to have my own investment portfolio. Currently I have a mixture in gold, ETFs and some blue chip companies.
What will be your recommended strategy for it?
It depends on which stage of life you are at, and what kind of risk/returns you are looking for. During the course, we touch on various easy-to-adopt portfolio strategies which only require 30 minutes each year to manage, and you can choose the one that suits you the best.
My favourite part was the trading game, really let me to see trading in a new light, and how to manage risk and reward to get the best outcome. I realise I always take too much risk on my trading.
Thanks for your feedback! Sometimes the best way to learn something is by experiencing it, like in an activity or game. If you just look at bullet points on powerpoint slides, it is just theory, but when you experience it, you will remember and apply it!
I recall that I was really lucky for a few times even though I took some high risk trades and managed to win the game early 😛
I managed to do the smart thing and took a bit more risk when I am ahead in the trading game. Could have been more conservative and I managed to find out more about myself and trading style.
Appreciate from the course that I have to stick to the 2% money management rules. It has benefited me and I have shared with my friends about it too.
I recall that during my session, we had many 5s to 6s in a row. It got me laughing at the odds of that happening. And the rest were history where some of us managed to end the trading game in record time.
Great to hear everyone enjoyed the game, and I hope you remember the post-game analysis and lessons learnt as well. Trading is 80% skill and 20% luck, if you are doing 20% skill and 80% luck, then you are gambling instead of trading haha
I enjoyed the 9 hour session over the weekend. It was really fruitful and I feel l m back to studying in school.
Overall, the course was engaging and we have ample mini exams to keep us on our toes. I appreciate the last portion of the lesson whereby we get to apply what we learnt to actual market conditions. Some of my course mates managed to get some spot on trades for the next few days based on the analysis and feedback that Spencer gave!
Thanks for your feedback! Glad you found the hands-on session useful. The main point of the whole training is to impart you the skills to become an independent trader, so the hands-on session is to put everything that you learnt during the 2 days to practical application, because that is the best way to reinforce the learning.
Yes I actually hope there are hands on practical feedback sessions. Do you have some programs or courses that allocate time for guiding beginners on the implementation of certain strategies?
I am currently doing paper trading. I have some wins and losses in forex to get myself familiarize with what I have been taught.
If possible, I will be interested in any advance courses that you have.
You can check out the “Trading Mastery Program (TMP)”, which is our advanced mentoring program: https://synapsetrading.com/?p=11641
Thanks for sharing about the information about the importance of having a trading plan, which is accomplished by preparing and doing homework for good trading setups.
This will lead to a faster and better decision on how I will get a good R/R ratio in my favour.
I used to just trade without a trading plan, and oh boy, it was a disaster and my inexperienced actions distort my views on how trading was done. Thanks for Spencer for pointing out to me that I was just gambling instead of doing a proper trading!
Thanks for your feedback!
Yes, a trading plan is definitely necessary as the first step towards profitable trading.
So a trading plan and trading journal are 2 different concepts XD
Now I know!
Appreciate your experience and input during the reviews of the trades and analysis by us and it really plays a significant part in how I learn and organize my trading ideas and concepts in my head.
Thank you Spencer!
Thanks for your feedback!
Yes, one is done before trading, and the other is done after.
Practice makes perfect, keep up the progress!
Thanks to you Spencer!
I have learnt a lot from this beginner course! I am a totally new beginner before this, but now I have the confidence and faith that I will do well in trading 🙂
The reward vs risk ratio is the most important that I have learnt from this course. I did learnt about how this concept works but somehow it didn’t get absorbed XD however, when Spencer taught the concept and we practice them on actual stocks and forex currency pairings…. then it made me realize how important R/R is!
This concept alone enables me to decide what trades are good to enter as I am overwhelmed with the apparently huge amount of trades.
With that in mind, I also learn how stoplosses and target price works!
All in all, an excellent and practical course for beginners on how to get into trading practically and safely!
Thanks for your feedback, and great to hear your progress!
Sometimes, the best way to learn a concept is to see it in practice, and then it just clicks.
Hey Spencer, as I have learnt some trading from other trainers but somehow it didn’t seem to be as useful as I thought.
I enjoy the portfolio strategy that you shared and it is really useful! I also get to see the different relations between the assets class and how I should tune my portfolio during certain period in the economy!
Thanks for your feedback!
Yup, it is good to build a long-term investment portfolio alongside your trading portfolio.
The class had some interesting discussions.
Personally the most interesting part of the class is the hands on whereby we get to applied what what learnt and getting near to instant feedback if my trade made logical sense is the most useful!
I hope Spencer can conduct more classes with such practices in mind 🙂
Thanks for your feedback!
Yes, practice is very important, that is why we continue to have a lifetime chat group for all past course graduates.
After the trading course, I was able to have a good trading plan and how to implement them!
My portfolio and returns are quite decent in my opinion 😛 Around 32% overall with some of my money parked in different asset classes – namely bitcoin and Ethereum.
Regardless, portfolio management is something that was never in my mind when I started out investing. Spencer has shown us the importance of why and how we split our investments and having control over our investments vs putting money in the bank.
Thanks for your feedback, and great to hear your results!
32% returns for a newbie is very good, considering many “pros” struggle to make more than 10% a year.
First of all, I will like to say thank you Spencer for the enriching and delightful trading course that you have conducted!
Apologies for the late feedback for the lesson.
I am a total beginner and finally I understand how a long or short a trade looks like in analysis and trading. A bit overwhelmed by how a proper trading plan should be and I understand the need to do and getting it right vs. losing money due to impulse buying or selling.
Capital management was a topic that intrigues me and I have been practicing your 2% money management rule well.
Thanks for your feedback, and good to hear your progress.
Slow and steady, and you will start to see your knowledge and profits compound.
I have no financial knowledge and was looking to gain some insights on how to start.
After the class, I purchased some ETFs so that I can still focus on my busy full time job instead of monitoring the various stocks in real time.
I also learnt that at during different period of time in the economy, there is a right time to buy certain asset classes based on the interest rates and also how inflation sensitive assets are influenced by such factors!
Thanks again Spencer!
Thanks for your feedback!
That is definitely a good start, and if you do not have much time, you can considering using our daily trading signals which only requires 15 minutes a day.
I believe most of my classmates have stated some of the obvious parts of the course.
Personally for me, the ability to be able to use different indicators, trends and candlestick patterns ALL at the same time is mind-blowing! The different timeframe used also indicates and tells another perspective of the product itself!
The course isn’t dry and very interesting with actual real life examples and the most useful are the hands on portion!
Thanks for your feedback!
Indeed, knowing how to stack the confluence of may different factors to give you the highest probability trades is how you can find the best trades and avoid the bad ones.
I have attended this trading course and I must say that Spencer takes a unique approach on why the 2% risk management rule is useful and practical.
I have done some causal trading in stocks and taking this course helps me to realize and recap the usefulness of certain technical analysis which I have overlooked at times.
Looking forward to see if Spencer will be conducting other SkillsFuture courses in the future.
Thanks for the feedback! Risk and money management is indeed important for a trader.
We actually do have other courses, you can browse them here: https://synapsetrading.com/?p=37811
I took the course and using the techniques that I have learnt. The easiest for me is the entry of the product but its extremely hard for me to decide when to exit.
With the R/R ratio that was being shared by Spencer, I am able to use that to have a rough gauge to exit when the market is moving in my favour.
Class size was appropriate and Spencer was able to give us sufficient attention for the online zoom training.
Thanks for the feedback! For exits, you can use major support and resistance levels, which is one of the approach I thought during the course, but if there is no obvious support or resistance level, then you can use the price action to exit.
Thanks Spencer for the course! Easy and clear-cut instructions in the various strategies for trading. The various concepts in the technical analysis are also explained well.
The course content caters to all type of traders be it day, swing or positional traders.
I definitely recommend this course.
Thanks for your feedback, and glad you enjoyed the course!
The BEGINNER’S COURSE ON TRADING & INVESTING course is a really informative course especially for a beginner like me.
It is definitely easy to digest and absorb through the various examples/case-studies shown and I was able to learn from the very basic.
It is a course where it teaches you how to trade and invest and what to look out for instead of just telling you which stock to buy and sell.
Spencer is an engaging, intelligent and helping instructor. Thank you!
Thanks for your feedback, and glad you enjoyed the course!
I got a confession to make! I’m so relieved I came across Spencer on YouTube! He was the person that could organize and make the complicated parts easy to understand.
Spencer doesn’t like to confuse or overcomplicate concepts.
I am grateful towards him & his course/s as I am now a consistently profitable trader, plan to quit my job in a few weeks’ time!
This beginner course is very useful for beginners. It explains and lays down all the “do/don’t” in trading.
Thanks for your feedback, and glad you have progressed by leaps and bounds!
That is precisely my philosophy in trading (as well as in life), that it does not have to be complicated to be successful.
The basic beginner course in trading and investment conducted by Spencer creates and introduces a proper framework of mind for beginners to trading.
It is a good course to start for anyone who doesn’t want to go through all the hassle to filter through the huge amount of information online.
In addition, you get to join the supportive community after you finish the class!
You also get to see “live” how Spencer applies and used all the techniques conducted in the class.
Thanks for your feedback, and glad you enjoyed the course and the post-course support!
I will recommend the beginner course to new or slightly experienced traders.
I follow and read all Spencer’s free material on the website and also on YouTube and signed up for the course! He really made it simple for people to understand what trading and investing is fundamentally all about. He explains it in simple words without too much jargon.
I have enjoyed and learnt a lot from the basic trading and investing course. It definitely supplements the free contents that I have seen him sharing.
As what some other students have shared, Spencer also discusses and talk about his thought process on why he takes a trade and how/when he executes it which I find them the most valuable.
That has assisted me greatly to decide whether or not to take enter into a trade.
Lastly, the support group is decent as Spencer will update us with more content and the latest finance news to take note of.
Thanks for your feedback, and glad you enjoyed the course and our Youtube content!
Please do share it with anyone you know who wants to start learning how to trade!
The basic strategies taught by Spencer are easy to understand and easy to execute. I can see that Spencer is quite disciplined in his trades and rules from the examples that he is teaching. I do enjoy the support group in Telegram and he will share and update the information about trading from time to time. Revision of the basic course was possible as a video for the class was created during the 2 days. Being in a community with similar thinking and like-minded people (my course mates) spurs me on to continue and improve in my financial knowledge and trading skills. Making money is awesome and the journey of doing it with others and Spencer is fulfilling. Thank you to the Synapse Team!
Appreciate that the course is very suitable for beginners like me who have no knowledge in trading.
Content can get a bit overwhelming at times with the financial portfolio and with practical guidance, I was able to make sense of what is happening. Spencer is patient and a great mentor in this course.
I suggest this course for people who are ready and drive to learn. Highly suggest everyone to do the homework or else its going to be tough to follow up with the information shared on Day 2.
A good-paced course with great insightful on end of Day 2 of the course. Practical session is especially useful as we are able to apply what we learn and the feedback given if our trades are realistic or practical by drawing the various lines for our trades. I have some knowledge in trading and its a good revision of what I have learnt and solidify my various strategies. The portfolio management was really useful to me from my perspective as Spencer shared about his current investments and why he does them. Hearing from someone who has done it for last 20 years is indeed insightful and helpful compared to what I read from other websites.
The basic trading course was what I envision when I join the course and I can see that Spencer is knowledgeable and experienced in what he is teaching.
Being a beginner to investing and trading, as shared by others, it was really helpful to see how we are able to see Spencer analyze the latest trades and the upcoming trades for the week. Since his strategies are short term (vs intraday), it is very suitable for what I am looking for since I am always busy with my work and have very little time to invest. Portfolio strategies are interesting as I was not aware that we should tweak them accordingly based on the market conditions.
Maybe when I have more time in the future, I will do more fast trades.
The various strategies taught and shared by Spencer was easy to digest and practical to be used. All questions were answered by Spencer during the class and he is really helpful and patient with the students. I was impressed that there were also many individuals like me who were looking to improve themselves in the trading and finance aspect when I join the community. The free trial trading signals were relevant with what I have learnt and I definitely have a lot more to improve on!
Spencer gives us ample time during the class to absorb and there are mini revisions/tests along the way to ensure that we understand what was being taught and I really appreciate that!
Greetings from Australia! Was recommended by my fellow mate, who had joined his Trading Mastery Program.
I took up this course instead as I had no idea about trading and finance.
The information can definitely be overwhelming at times and there are supplementary readings provided by Spencer if you are interested.
All in all, Spencer is awesome in his field and what he is teaching. Class is slow at the beginning but picked up after the first half of the day.
I love the practical aspect and hope that there are more of such sessions to see how a professional trader does his analysis and drawings!
Highly recommended and knowledge can be applied to cryptocurrency which I am currently learning too.
The beginner course is not your usual typical beginner course where it’s all just theory being piled onto you within the 2 days. Sufficient time was provided for us to revise and recap the pointers taught by Spencer. Although it can get naggy at some time, I understand that this was crucial so we would fully understand it.
I used my Skillsfuture credits for this course and it is definitely worth my time and energy in attending this basic trading course. Not too sure if it is applicable for those who already have knowledge. Portfolio allocation and sharing was an eye-opener for me as I usually park my money in fixed deposit. Have not tried trading yet and currently still paper trading. I like the support group community too.
This basic trading course is relevant to what I am looking for as I see the need and urgency to pick up such knowledge in my current point of life.
Just here to say thank you to Spencer for a well conducted course and I have recommended this course to my friends.
I have been following Spencer for quite a while on his Telegram and Facebook.
Decided to take the course when I have some time after the Chinese New Year.
Since I have been reading all his guides on his website, I would say the most useful portion of the course for me is the portfolio allocation and the practical trading sessions where trades were been reviewed to justify if the TP or SL is reasonable, based on the RR ratio (which I struggle applying it). Have been making a few trades since then, and I am really glad to have participated in this course.
Spencer is patient and friendly, and there is a helpful admin staff who helped me with my registration.
Concise strategies were taught in the course. I enjoy the 2-day course with the various trading strategies and the pace was well managed and I will say the only drawback is that will require future subscription for access to the trading signals.
Thank you for all the teachings!!
